Internet is not banned as a rule but some PO conditions may restrict it. In fact several states who tried to ban RSOLs from using Facebook were sued and lost on first amendment grounds. (Facebook has in it's terms of use states no sex offenders.)

Any registrant should be aware that they are being monitored electronically on the internet. Raise some red flags and a law enforcement will try to sting.

Your son should not expect to find a girl on Facebook and any online dating sites will check for sex offender status. Social groups like Daily Strength would be very helpful to him but I recommend he goes out into the real world and meet real people. I join bowling leagues and meet people who live locally around me.

I agree with Free. The old way may be the best for him. See if he is willing to join social or sports groups. Even shy people get along in these. If he is interested in the environment, tell him to get active in the Sierra Club. There are some great trails in the Wissahickon valley that the Philly chapter hikes and helps clear.

I thought state parks city parks restrictions are u cant be certain feet of them or schools etc .i would love go on a trail somewhere with my family .my hub me and son .but according to rso restrictions he cant be but certain footage away .am i not reading states registry rules right ?

There are no restrictions where Nako and her son live. PA is restriction free, today.

Freetobreath, this Facebook thing, the gentleman that will soon be released has a Facebook account. It has not been touched since incarceration. When he is released it the account going to cause him a problem with the parole people? I don't know how to delete it.. I do not know the passwords an I bet he no longer knows them either.

That is one of the new rules that blankets all S.O.'s I was fortunate and didn't fall into that category and was allowed to use the internet. You are allowed to file motions (pro se) for modifications of the terms of probation all you want and I suggest that when your son gets out you go over the terms of his probation very carefully and try to do so. I was told be my P.O. that i could have filed motions for going on vacation for a week out of state to visit family. The probation officers are usually pretty standoffish for the first few months until they learn the character of the person they are monitoring and they can actually be pretty decent and a good source of what restrictions you may challenge and find relief from. I do wish you good fortune in finding relief from what you are going to have deal with upon your sons release. I hope that you have a place for him to live and if he is coming home make sure your house is pre- approved by the probation office there are a lot of those pesky child care places without signs that fall within the limits of his rules which will not allow him to reside in an area. I'm not being cruel I would like to let you know that I was trying to find a place to live and move out of the warehousing situation I was in it took 89 tries before I found one that I could live in because of those sneeky little places.

If he did not have an internet crime I would petition the court for a modification of the probation and see about having that stipulation removed from his terms. sorry i didn't read everything b4 Bill

My son still has his Facebook account. To shut it down, FB demands to be able to send a message and/or him recognise photos. As we cannot do either, and he can't access FB to check out photos, we can't close out his FB. His PO wanted him to close it down, but when he told his PO he couldn't, she said that all that really matters is that he doesn't use FB at this time. So his account is still there, waiting. And he's not being penalized for it.

I do not use "Faceplant" but I believe anyone can shut down any site just by reporting it as being owned by a registrant from another account (make a complaint) But so long as there is no activity after you son gets released I don't see how any law enforcement can do anything as your son will not be participating.

I think your fine just leaving it alone.
