Any my son, who never touched another person, got minimum 10 years in federal prison, 10 years supervised release, and I think lifetime on the registry.

i'm with you kitty, seeing as how my daughter got the same type of sentence and she didn't touch anyone. i simply don't understand the law or how the "federal" felonies could be dropped or reduced like that?

kinda makes ya wonder about money, connections and political influence.

There's always crazy outcomes. How about the guy who murdered two people and only got six years? Or Billy Lane who had a long list of felonies, lost his licence due to dui, killed someone and only got four years while able to wipe out his felony records once released?

The Justice system will NEVER make sense!

Of course some of these cases I read that the defendants have 20 plus or 30 plus letters of recommendations. I thought I heard these really don't help?

frogpond1, unfortunately, all my son's friends scattered as well. Mine was the only letter written.

LOL my daughters 2 close friends dropped her as fast as you can say 'SO' disappeared. and the PD she had told me that the only letter he wanted was from me. when i said i could get more? he again said that the only one wanted was mine.

I think letters of recommendations help, but only if the people who write them have money and power to back them up

well we all know that if you have unlimited funds that you can buy whatever kind of justice you think you need! think "affuenza".

One thing we need to remember is that this article is about a page long if even that. We all know that the stories that are posted in the news are all biased to whomever is writing it and whomever is publishing it. We all also know that we can't believe 1/2 of what is shown in the media if even that much.

We do not know this case or the circumstances behind this man's alleged crimes. For all we know he is being railroaded into his plea.

As human beings we are inclined to judge others even be it good or bad. When we walk up to someone, anyone, we look at them and pass some kind of opinion through our head. Be it, "they look great today!" or "what the .... did they do to their hair!" We are passing judgement on them, however minor. We need to remember that when we see articles like this and start speculating.

I agree that the justice system, which has nothing to do with justice, will never make sense that is why I don't call it justice, but it is a legal system, it is far more accurate a term for it and describes it far better and keeps people from thinking about things being fair or just in some way. Because it is not.

In our Legal system, it is not about the accused or the accuser, it is about the statutes and laws that may have been violated, if there is punishment and how it will be administered. It is not about justice or the circumstances of the case other than how they apply to the statute/s that is believed to have been violated. I think that when we get mixed up in this shit, it is the first thing that is forgotten, the law is not about fair, justice or the American way, but it is about statutes that most of us have never heard of and how they apply based on other cases that are nothing like the one we are dealing with.

I agree and disagree. I've read up on over 100 cases and briefs. It depends on your viewpoint and definition of justice. I've read cases where judges actually used common sense and the sentences made sense but to the public they were to lenient and justice wasn't served. So it depends on which side your on.
