I am going through this training now so that in the future (not holding my breathe) my partner can be at family events and maybe see his son. I am amazed at how they try to blame you for staying... My partners crime was kissing an adult who had taken seroquel (not known to him until after the kiss). The instructor started the class with all women who marry sex offenders are trying to validate their own abuse.... (jaw hit floor). So to pass this certification class we have to talk about what abuse we are validating.... Just thought I would share and vent. Going to pass this so life is better, but got to walk through hell to do it... Story of a day in the life of an SO's family!

Have you thought about asking why they are making you a victim or stay a victim? You are a better woman than I... I might get kicked out for asking too many rhetorical questions.

You and everyone else who supports SOs are deviants, according to our government. We're enablers and all the RSOs are all guilty of wanting to have sex with children.
I'm getting used to being approached like this. I realize that none of those on 'the other side' are on our side and they will always look for ways to re-validate their view of the RSO.

OHH I ask... but I was reminded that even if I pass the background check and test!! that I could be viewed as confrontational and denied. it would only hurt our son. Me ego can take this. I am just amazed that someone with so little training can (she has a bs in psy) can make life decisions for so many based on research theory that was outdated 10 years ago. Not a better women just one with a sole purpose....

They reminded me of that too... I also remember that those DOC folks are all drunk on power... That they may think they have ALL the power in the world but they push too far, just like they did in Nak's son's case, they can get bumped back by the court.

But I hear you, fight the battles that you can win without too many casualties.

I am happy for Nak... I just don't have the money for the lawyers. I am fighting with a lawyer to get the right to talk to my partner about our son. I think that is a case we will win and money well spent as it sets precedent for others. I can only afford one case at a time. I also got the right to see my partner, after fighting that a native american marriage makes me his wife despite what I call him. I got the right the lawyer got 5000. A right I shouldn't of had to pay for.....

I know how you feel GoAlone. I had a councilor tell me I was co-dependent when I eent to see them to help me get through the shock and the rollarcoaster ride I was in when hubby was arrested. I felt worse Everytime I went to see them.

After awhile, I decided enough was enough. Their approach in helping me wasn't helping. So I left and found one that actually did help me. I know you don't have that luxury, as you have to stay and play the game, but it still doesn't help your wellbeing.
