You are right - our judicial system, its priorities, and the outcomes of cases, in this country is screwed up in many-many ways.

No Offense taken at all. I know that a parent would be happy their child won't have to do prison time, but that does not mean that you can't feel as if your child deserves a sentence similar and a chance. They don't let SOs into parks, etc for fear of their children, but why would they let murderers into parks? Nobody cares about that? Nothing makes sense at all, and I truly hope people will see how unfair these treatments are. Things will have to change or this planet will self destroy itself. The unfair sentences create so much bitterness. Not what this planet had in mind. It is a beautiful planet with a bunch of screwed up people that will take this planet down if things don't change. Nobody owns this earth. We are all privileged to live here for our short life.

I agree, what is he really learning? I understand he is 16, there are plenty of other 16 year olds or other age teens that make mistakes and get locked up and NO help. Maybe money has a play in it if his dad can afford $450,000 a year to pay for this place for him to stay. How long does he have to stay there?
I also agree with the So's not being allowed in parks - but they allow murderers, drug traffickers, etc in them and they can do more harm then an SO. Maybe some day they will realize that not just SO's are people they need to worry about around Children. They say SO's have the least reoffenders so why the tough laws. Plus most are not out for an unknown child as they say most sex offenses happen to people they know - family. I know if my husband gets out I will be more cautious around kids in the family even though I believe he has learned from this and will never do anything like this again.

You will see those convicted of murder get less time than someone who committed a sex offense. So, a person lost their life, the family will be forever impacted.
A person who did committ an offense, will serve decades behind bars, yet the vicitim is still breathing and living. Our sentenses need to be more fair, and they aren't.

It was also said they found him not too long ago with a naked 14 y.o. girl who was passed out. Now.. if anyone should go to prison it's this kid.

You should be angry... Anger about the way things were brought us the Revolutionary War and the Civil War. Although if I had lived in the time of the civil war, not sure how much I would have liked Lincoln. He did somethings that looking back were necessary... Living during that time might have given me a totally different impression on what the civil war was really about and my opinion about it.

My point is that getting angry has always been the first step when making changes in a country. It is the way our country was born, we were angry about being taxed by the British government without representation in parliament. And they were increasing our taxes over here because they could. Which is what started our Boston Tea Party...

I am a firm believer in Karma, that boy will get his, it might take 20 years but what goes around comes around... I agree, he committed a couple of felonies not including the the vehicular homicide. He may not deserve life in prison, but he should spend some time in jail, ADULT jail where he'll end up if he doesn't change his way of being. Maybe some sessions with the victims he has killed familes? Or if any of those victims had children, handwritten letters apologizing for taking their parents or family members from them. I would even say that the boy should do some PSAs as well put his face all over the place so that people will know that it is him that did it. Then for the icing, have him move to Janesville, WI where he will be required to register as a drunk driver, his address won't be public until he commits 3 offenses but he'll be on a list!

So because this boy's father is rich, that gives him the right to not be punished? Like I said when I started this, that boy that did the childhood prank streaking was only 15 or 16 and they wanted to put him on the SO list, which made the boy hang himself! This damn system needs to change and NOW!!!!

People get to have new lives once they murder people, but consensual sex is a crime? Give me a break! Way back then our parents were married at 14 and 15 years old. Its just an easy way of the Justice/Political System to make money off of hard working families. It apparently will not even touch the dad's pocket book for spending the money that he will be spending and I would not doubt if he is out of that place within one to two years!

@Heartbroken, I was thinking the same thing. My grandma was barely 15 when she married my grandpa who was 21 in 1937! They were happily married for 48 years when he passed away. That would be illegal now. When did the laws change?

Also, I know the county jail is making money hand over foot just from the phone calls between my husband and I, but the economy is suffering on the outside because of his loss of income! I told him one day that I hadn't spent more than $20 at Walmart in one visit since he's been gone, and he said, "and they haven't come to the house to see if you're ok?" lol

As I've said before, I'm new to all of this, but I have NO faith in the justice system anymore, and I've told my kids NOT to trust the police. Protect and serve my A$$!

The fact that the 14 y.o. girl was unconscious bothered me.
I started keeping track on how much phone calls, commissary , books were costing me but I gave up. I know we maxed out what he was allowed to get. At times it was a little tough but i always sent my son something.

Oh no, there's a max on what we can send? Oh great; that kid can have the best in "treatment" and WE have a limit on raumen noodles and books ?!?!
