Ten THOUSAND arrests?! Is this the only way people know how to deal with these issues?

It may not be the only way people know how to deal with the issues but it is the way that gets the arresting agencies the most money.

I can't help but wonder if they are feeling that with pressure to lower or adjust the minimum sentencing on drug crimes they are trying to find a way to keep the prisons full. do have to wonder about the 10,000 arrests...we all know how they get their facts wrong, maybe that is the number they are shooting for?

As much as the Capitalist in me hates it, many States are going to Private Prisons for profit and if you look at it, those States have a higher conviction rate than those that don't and they have more laws that require incarceration...

I wonder how many of them are real hardened c.p.ers - those that produce the filth. they make is sound like they all are, but we know most are just like our loved ones who for whatever reason accessed this crap and are now paying years - no a lifetime of repentance.

I caught it on PBS just by accident it is now on netflicks. Of course being that Danny Glover and Brad Pitt have a hand in it help boost it's notoriety, I am sure if it was independent it would have laid flat. Still glad it is getting the attention it is. Of course it has everything to do with the drug war and nothing about other crimes but still a good watch.

I believe the 10,000 arrests since it is for 10 years. That is only 20 people per state per year arrested. There was a 2500% increase in arrests for child porn arrests between 2004 and 2008, and the FBI stated at that between 2008 and 2009 there over 20 million computers in the US with CP on them. But unfortunately, they are going after the low hanging fruit of viewers just like with the drug war and the users rather than producers because many ( but definitely not all) of the producers are from other countries.

I don't have statistics, However, there was a show on CNBC called "Incarceration Nation" about mostly private prisons and did have some.....Also, there was a Juvenile Court Judge(Illinois? Ohio? Indiana? One of those I can't remember)that was just sentenced to Prison for sending Kids to lock up for minor infractions, and getting "Kick Backs" from the Private Facility he sent these Kids to....
Most Illegal Alien holding facilities are also Private Contract Prisons...
