I think everyone here understands how each minute they are away feels like a lifetime! Parole violations vary greatly from place to place.....and sometimes are even left up to the judge based upon the type of violation. I hate to say it, but I don't believe he'll get much leniency considering this is similar if not identical to the original charge. However, 2 months is a blink of an eye in a lifetime.....so let's hope that's all that happens! My heart goes out to you.

Of course CK locking someone up for 2 months isn't going to change much. You can lead a horse to water but you cannot make him drink. If he has a porn addiction he may even want to drink (stop) but he can't. Our justice system is not about restoration or reintegration but punishment.

CK, I think the important thing here is that your BF needs to make this his last parole violation. Yes, the time seems like forever. Independent is right, this is about punishment, not restoration or reintegration. That being said, your BF won't be getting substantial and/or significant help in reintegrating from the Probation & Parole department, so it is truly up to him to put the maximum effort into making this work. You can help him, but the core effort has to come from him.

Thank you, I totally agree brain. When we first got together the way he explained it was that this stuff happened in the past but I didn't have anything to worry about anymore because he seemed like everything was all better but I know now that is not the case. I did not realize how deep his issues are until this happened. So once he's home after a day of celebrating I plan on having a serious conversation with him about everything that has happened and that going forward he needs to really commit to making an effort and not risking getting into this trouble again. I will be here for him and help anyway I can but ultimately I know he has to be completely honest about everything and I need to know that he is going to do everything he can to stay out of trouble.

CK, I've been on probation. It is not fun, it is not easy. There are those that say it should not be easy, but there is a difference between using probation/parole to rehabilitate vs using it to punish. I have seen too many PO's with "god complex.:"
