You are stronger than you realize, you will be as strong as you need to be to get your family through this.
As for your daughter "sitting there like nothing has happened", different people handle things differently, some of us tend to tackle a problem head on, some go the opposite way; if I ignore it it doesn't exist, or it will go away. Most of us seem to fall somewhere between the two.
In the last 2 + years, I have discovered that I am much stronger than I ever thought I could be, I am as strong as I need to be. My oldest child falls into the "if I ignore it it doesn't exist" category. I have made sure he knows that I am here for him if he ever needs me for anything. I feel that is really all I can do for him right now. My middle child has found the strength to be supportive of his younger brother and writes to him every week, like me he has found his inner strength.
You will find your inner strength, you will find that you are strong enough to help your family get through this.
I am only a message away if you need me. I will keep you in my thoughts.
1. You are already surviving this, that alone is strength building and if nothing else character building.
2. The act of just not curling up in a ball and literally giving up is a display of strength. Sure you want to, but do you? NO! because you already know you can't, that is strength.
I think people forget that you can be strong with tear of sadness running down your face. You can be strong while you grieve for a life that you know will never be the same. The thing is, the fact that you just keep going forward, even if it is by jerks or too slow for your liking, moving forward is progress, that is strength.
Do NOT cut yourself short, you are not giving yourself the credit you have EARNED already.
Strength is your ability to move forward from any situation as it presents itself to you at the time in which it displays it, with the information that you have at the time. Hindsight is always 20/20, so no what if'ing or second guessing yourself. You are doing a great job!
