I am in California, and we yet have to go through the entire probation period. Registration is for life, but the CA RSOL (Reforming Sex Offender Laws) has come a long ways. Residency restrictions and bans from parks, beaches, etc have been deemed unconstitutional, so we are getting somewhere. Maybe there is a RSOL in Alabama? I would contact them and see what obstacles your son might face. Never give up hope. We have been through the Holocaust and we will go through this….

I have a brother who lives in Alabama. Some counties are worse than others. One thing I like about Alabama is when they perform resident registry checks they are supposed to use unmarked cars and plain clothes officers but they just recently got sued because one sheriff went way beyond the law demanding home searches and visits well in excess of the law. I believe the state requires a red "Sex Offender" label across the license plates.

If you son is on probation you should contact probation & parole for information.
