My son's cellmate is getting out of jail. They haven't released him yet because of his home plan. His mother has a 1 bedroom apt and they are telling him he can't go there because it only has 1 bedroom. They are sending him to a homeless shelter instead. He is scheduled Friday for a meeting with his PO and his mother. Needless to say she is upset. I don't understand the reason behind.sending him to a shelter instead of sleeping on the couch at his mother's. How can I found out info about home plans. I don't want any problems when my son gets released someday Where can I find info about this?
Mostly what it seemed that POs were looking for was a stable home environment that had no kids in it, no kids near by and no kids in its future. In town is fine because that is where most people end up, but I have found our rural location an advantage rather than a hindrance. If you own your home, that is a good thing as long as it isn't next to a place where children gather. Ownership represents stability.
If you have things in the house that the offender can't have, such as internet, weapons, alcohol, then designate an area that can be paddle locked for the weapons and booze and password protect all the computers in the house so that only you know the password. It helps if you have a plan in place before they come for a home visit to approve your place, it shows you are thinking ahead and scores points for you.
