My son will be moving down the street from me. We're trying to do it around the time he also has to go into the police station for his yearly update registration on Jan 4th.

I'm sure the place will be approved. But I know his PO still has to come out and approve it. We're not sure how this works tho. Last time I was living where he was moving to, but this is a new place for him.

Does he have to get it approved Before he moves in or should he be moved in and then have it approved.

i've got a long time to wait before i have to worry about that but aren't they supposed to be inspected and approved before he can move in?

whoever he has to report to, or where he has to sign in would probably be the best one/place to ask i would think.

He's living with me. Before he was released they came by to approve it. We hate asking the PO anything.. I thought someone here would have some experience with this.

I too have a while to go before I have to deal with home inspections, but I would say that you should have it all checked out before he settles in just in case something you never even thought about comes up. I think some probation officers are waiting for people to fail. so just to be on the safe side you should have it checked out first. If you dont want to deal with his PO can you call another one to come out? Just make sure to cover all your bases ok.

Besides if he moves in first and then find there is some type of violation can he afford another deposit and things like that to move into another place. And once they say its a violation would he have to move out QUICKLY. Play it safe ask first!

Two things probably have to happen here. 1) His PO probably needs to give him permission to move before he goes anywhere and that won't happen unless 2)The PO has inspected and approved the location he wants to move to.

I thought Philly didn't have any living restrictions? Did that change?

I live in PA, I had lived in my sisters basement when I first got out. The p.o did do a home inspection after I was already there. I since bought a home and I was still on probation at the time, I told the p.o on my report day. She was mad I didn't inform her I was even buying a home. She came by one day when I was at work. The next report day she asked me why there was a "girls" bike on my side porch, and that I better not have any little girls in my basement! I just laughed at her. The bike was my 19 year old daughter's mountain bike.

I also live in PA. My son's PO is coming out to see him today so he'll tell him that he's moving. But he won't be able to get into the house until my son has the key.

I'm not concerned. The PO keeps telling my son he needs to get away from me. Personally, I think it's just because they like to isolate the RSOs so they're easier to control.

There are no residency restrictions here in PA.

Why does he need to check the new place if there are no residency restrictions?

He is on probation, so it doesnt matter if there is a law about residency restrictions or not. PO will want to approve BEFORE he moves. I dealt with that while I was on probation, even though AZ has no residency restrictions for my Tier level.
