I am desperate to find help or at the very least to hear experiences. We live in Minnesota. My 17 year old son has been recently accused of sexually molesting his 4, almost 5 year old cousin when she was 3. The allegation came to light 1 month ago when she told her mother that she did not want my son to babysit anymore because he touches her. My niece was seen by a doctor and no physical evidence was found. She was questioned by police and it was recorded. I have recieved a copy of the statement and it is pretty detailed. My son swears on his life taht he did not do this and that she is simply confused about a potty incident in which he had to clean her up. My son is depressed, with drawn and scared. He has been charged with 4 felony 1st degree counts of criminal sexual conduct with a minor. I had retained an attorney but can't afford him and will have to ask for a court appointed attorney.

I have gone through phone and text message records and the timelines they are claiming that the alleged abuse occured do not add up. They aren't completely off but don't quite match. I don't know what to do. I want to believe my son and his story has not waivered at all but the report of what my niece said is very detailed. My family is completly torn apart and we have been shunned by many family members. I do plan on getting us both counseling but my son is reluctant. I am so lost.

First of all, I would suggest just take a deep breath and try to focus on the next step which it. sounds like you are in the process of getting a court appointed
lawyer. Try not to panic altho I know it easier said than done. You have support here and I will be praying for you.

I have looked at this post several times , I'm afraid to say too much ,because your in the beginning of your nightmare ,I paid 25000 for a defense attourney , who really didn't care ,my son admitted child porn , but the lawyer tried to get him a lesser sentence , because of the maximum min law , they gave him 15 years ,it has been 3 so far , we also were caught up in this nightmare , he is older tho 38 ,I can't tell you what a great kid..husband ,,father and son he is ,it's truly a matter of addiction on his part ,and he is paying dearly with his life ,so it's tough to say what ..how.. Or why your beautiful son , got into this ,( if he did) it sounds like it's going to be a hard road ahead of you ,I cried the first 2 years ,not understanding any of this ,I thought my heart was going to litterly break , I went to Drs. Counslers . Family , fortunately my family has supported me , because they know me ,and I was crushed ,but not my son , I couldn't blame them, we are all angry at him for getting caught up in cp. all I can say to you ,is try to focus on a lawyer , read read , don't bother getting hurt by your family , you can't change their minds , but you can figure out what your son is going to be charged with , ask many ?? . Go to a counsler ! Don't give up on this site , I did get help here and was able to breath and understand , your son is under 18 ,which may help him , ask about a lawyer that has been in this field ...praying for you ..Susie
