But here is one of my sleepless nights where my mind just won't stop. Ugh.
A brief summary of my story and update:
I'm a mom of a 17yr old son who is currently in our county jail where he has been for 7 months now. Our state is one of 7 who views all 17 yr olds as adults when it comes to a crime. My son had consentual teen sex with a girlfriend. Mom found out and took daughter to hospital for a morning after pill. Due to sons age hospital got police involved. Once they became involved and dfs contacted the mom the daughter's story changed to it was not consentual.
Not a whole lot to update. We go to court each month just to get continued another month. They did perform mental evaluation to make sure he is competent to proceed, which he is. It was explained to him with all charges he could possibly be facing 82 yrs. At this months court date his attorney told me the prosecutor and him had spoke and the time she threw out there to him was 10 yrs. They spoke some more and did seem to agree on a few facts. They are supposes to talk more and she told him she's sure they can come to something we will all be OK with. The attorney is going to ask for probation and wheel and deal back and forth between now and our October court date. He said if she refuses to budge on the 10 yrs he thinks we should consider going to trial.
I'm still scared and a mess. Me and my daughter have been so affected by this in many ways. I do feel a touch of relief and hope due to the fact her starting number is so low compared to what could have been possible.

It is so hard.. I want my kid home.. I don't want his 18th bday spent in jail.. He had big plans for his future, that he now can never do...
Thru all this my daughter has dealt with a horrible bullying ordeal that lasted 6+ months and resulted in me having pull her out of school and me getting fired.. We are going to be taking that stuff to court.. She wants her brother/ best friend home so bad.. Between her bullying and bro being in jail it led to a suicide attempt a few weeks ago...
