When my son went to sentencing 4 years ago we were hoping for probation and no jail. Instead he got 30 months in federal.
That was in Floriduh.

IF he only got probation he'd be struggling right now in that crappy state just trying to live anywhere but in the streets. His life would have been so much worse.

Because he went in and I moved me and the business to Philly he was allowed to move here after release. At least here he has a home, a job and a small social life. He still have 13 more years to go on probation but I'm sure we can get that cut back, just waiting to save a few bucks to do that.

Prison has made him jittery and his PTSD is something he has to deal with, but the alternative.. life in Floriduh would have been much worse.

Thanks for sharing this. It encourages me to continue in a similar direction. I don't have a business, but I've thought of starting one so I could hire my sons, when they get out. What kind of a business do you have?

PTSD comes with prison that's for sure. I hope he will find things to do that take his mind away from all the stress. I play with polymer clay. I've taught myself many crafty things. When I craft I don't think about the stressful side of my life. You understand. It's as hard for us moms as it is for them. And if I play with clay I'm not wasting my time binge watching t.v. or eating or trying to kill the pain in a bad way.

I'm glad you had the forethought to move to another place. Best wishes to both of you.

My business is 30 years old.. And my son was working there before he went in.

This is Not an easy thing to set up. I was fortunate that circumstances were there and I could afford to move everything a year before his release.

Yes, I am in Florida but we are lucky that our home has already been ok'd for when he gets home in 3 months. I tried to convince my husband to move and even saw our lawyer about it but ultimately he doesn't want to go anywhere right now so we are staying at least through his probation will be another 5 years. I own my home and have been told by my lawyers we are now grandfathered into out home but who knows if that will continue with all the law changes that happen. If that is the case and we stay, I do love my home and my neighborhood so keeping fingers crossed nothing gets out of control when he gets out and is on the registry. Currently no one knows about him in our neighborhood. I have told them all he is traveling for work. Thank you for sharing your story.
