Maybe if they change the laws in Washington, it can open doors to change elsewhere as well. Maybe this will be something that will open doors into educating people. If you would have told me 5 months ago, that our sex offender laws were too strict and that lifetime probation was usually unwarranted, I would have scoffed in your face. It took someone close to me to bring me into the midst of it all and see what the truth really is. I hate that it took something like this in order for me to see it and really want to be able to help others see it without having to go through it themselves.

I agree with that hcjfctc. What was really ironic, is the week that my brother was put in jail. Our neighborhood was flyered of a SO moving in. We have them in this neighborhood. But I never knew they flyered until then. Made my heart ache for him and his family.

hcjfctc: That is my thoughts to a T. I was very judgemental before my husband was convicted, it has opened my eyes to what the truth is. I believe all of this happened to my family for a reason and it is to make people aware that it is not as black and white as they want it to be. My heart goes out to this family as it could of been anyone of us!

Reading through the comments made me sick to my stomach. Literally. Like I feel like I need to run to the bathroom any minute. 2Corin you hit the nail on the head. No one thinks about what it's like until they are in that situation and then it opens your eyes so much to the fact that not everyone who makes the same kind of mistake is the same kind of person. I really agree with the article, and am thankful for the few people on there who have the sense to have an open mind and find the truth in the facts.
