getting new attorney

there is this attorney that goes to a the jail every 2 weeks to see his clients so my husband told one of the guys if they could let the lawyer know that he would like to speak to him so my husband spoke to the attorney well he gave us a price and I can afford that so now I am trying to get a hold of him I found out Tuesday afternoon that I can get the money so I called him he didn't call back I also called Wednesday and I called Friday Tuesday I left message with the secretary on Tuesday and on Wednesday and Friday I also left a message on his cell as well but I haven't received a call back do you think I will on Monday because of the holidays the problem is my husband is suppose to go to court on Friday I don't know what to think or expect

I hope you get a call on Monday. Generally the court system is closed on the day after Thanksgiving (outside of magistrate judges dealing with bail/bond issues). There isn't anything that an attorney could do for you until Monday at the earliest. Lets say he takes your husband's case. He may try for a continuance (and I would) because he needs some time to get familiar with the case, talk to the prosecuting attorney, etc.

Monday will be a busy day at the court house because of the Thanksgiving Holiday. Keep that in mind. I know you are freaking out - I did when I was trying to get an attorney for my case. Be assured that the attorney knows you have called. When (I am assuming you will meet this guy) you talk to him, try to stay calm. Also, try not to project into the future. Deal with the here and now. You cannot do anything about the future, all you can do is about the present.

If you do not hear back by 3pm on Monday, you may want to call the attorney's office. He may be busy enough that he won't be able to call you until 5pm or so. I wish I could say more to help, but there isn't much to do during a weekend.

scaredmoman, You may want to check this attorney out before paying the money. When our son told us of an attorney that would come in to the prison and see clients - and he wanted to see if he could handle some civil work concerning his child, I checked the guy out. I found linkedin was very informative and the state bar web site also has information concerning attorneys.

Fortunately this attorney had a lot of experience both at the state and federal level - but it was all criminal. We contacted him via email and heard back via email that same day. He told us his experience was more criminal but that he would talk with our son and see what the situation was and if he could help.

Too bad we didn't find him before the verdict.
