Thank God people are coming forward to talk about these issues. Monday is the 5 year anniversary of my husband's arrest. I'll never forget how incredibly shocking it was first, to lose my husband to a sudden incarceration with no chance of bail, but then to be exposed to the evil attitudes of others who were influenced by the sex offender mythology. In many ways, that was harder on me than the loss of my husband. At least I knew where he was. I wasn't sure I knew where I was... All of a sudden, my wonderful husband was an evil criminal. Even my friends had the "right analysis" to tell me that they knew there was something wrong with him. And what was wrong with me? I must have "known". I was even accused of child endangerment. At least one person suggested that I should also be prosecuted!

But that was 5 years ago. In that short time, we have really come a long way. Five years ago, politicians were shaking their fists and declaring that sex offenders had a recidivism rate of 70%. Anyone remember that bogus claim. A lot of people believed it. Do you know where it came from? Apparently, there was a study...I think it was done in Scotland...of the recidivism rates of sex offenders who had already re-offended. Ha! Yes, that's evidence but of the wrong thing.

Anyway, this guy's doing the whole world a favor by speaking so clearly about this topic. People are slowly getting the idea that they've been manipulated by this mythology. As he says, no one denies that true sex crimes are a serious issue. We just have to learn what's really a crime, what really isn't and look toward a result of public safety rather than beating up people simply because we are afraid of our own impulses.

Great video. Cannot believe that hebephillia is even close to be considered "a thing". Like he said, don't tell Hollywood! Wow!

My favorite part is where he says that today's teenagers are more likely to end up being labeled sex offenders than being victims of child sexual abuse. Whew! That's a very sobering thought!
