How long did it take for you to get your felony changed to a misdemeanor?
@Steph2011: The entire process takes about 4 or 5 months (although mine took 7 - but it was my own fault for taking too long to get an affidavit signed and returned to them). I used this law firm in CA that basically specializes in this sort of thing...reductions and expungement. And, it cost about $800. It was a chunk of money, but I feel it's well worth it. According to the way CA law works, now I can answer "no" when asked if I've been convicted of a felony on a job app.
Unfortunately, my charge can't be expunged, but it was eligible for reduction. I'm not sure if I'm allowed to name the law firm that I worked with on this forum. If I am allowed to, and if anyone wants to know who they are, reply, and I will say the name. Or, you can send me a private message too.
@honestwitness: As much as I hate registering, I'd take not being on the public list any day over this crap we have here in Missouri. There are no levels/tiers here. Everyone registers for life. And, if it was involving someone under 18, you have to go in every 90 days. So, with this change, my next step might just be looking for a new state to live in....who knows.
Either way, it's been a good day, and I'm blessed to be able to have folks out here to share this with. Thank you all!
