Couple of links but looks like the same story
First of all Tech savvy people know that anyone could use a computer and cause things to happen. Even if the person was just over for a few seconds, only checked their email (they said) and didn't really do much surfing. Or the house guest that stayed up all night looking up porn on your computer, but did delete the history but didn't get all the temp files. There is just too much room for error in scenarios like that where a tech found something.
Then you see this, where they go in with a warrant for something else, in their search they uncover something else that is incriminating to the person, although it has nothing to do with the prediction of what they would find with the warrant. It is my understanding that unless the wording is such that unless implicitly stated in the warrant they can't use anything else or in the warrant it states that it includes anything else they find that violates the law.
Now in this particular case it appears that there are some due process violations, especially when they were unable to find anything that really pertained to spying. It is this kind of thing that I try to use to remind people of what Benjamin Franklin said, "They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety." People say they want to be protected against terrorists by the government, so we have the Patriot Act, an affront to the Constitution at its core. The people say they want to be protected against Sex offenders, so they bring us SORNA which is the same, an affront to the Constitution again.
The issues that plague our country are so much more than just the RSO movement, in fact I believe that the registry and some non sex offender things are the symptoms and indicators of how bad things really are in this country. The fact that they are blocking his ability to even defend himself, by not allowing him to see the search warrant for his home because of 'national security' is a perfect example of what we have given up in freedom in order to achieve the illusion of safety.
