Families of violent criminals

I'm just being curious and not asking about this for myself, but I wonder where the loved ones of the most violent offenders go to find support. I have always wondered how the parents and siblings of the really violent serial killers ever survive after learning their loved one is a murderer or a rapist. I imagine one would have to get help from a professional counselor. Just wonderin'.

What I think is amazing about this journey is how very little support there is out there for families of RSOs PERIOD ... I too wonder where these people go to get support or do they just shut it out and away very, very deep within their psyche and not talk about it?

I have been looking for support as a partner and have found this site to be one of the only ones I have come across that offer support, even in the psychological community! I can go to 12-step meetings, but the focus of any meeting I have attended is not the focus of being a partner of an RSO.

There is a huge need in this area ... that is undeniable!

What little there is around here does not address any of the real issues for RSO and their families. They don't teach how to prevent a reoccurance for those that need that! I love my DH and I know that the best way to help him is to be there and be supportive. I also know his "triggers". But how many of us partners and loved ones have sat down and actually discussed this? How many know that it's something they should do?
