I think the end is in sight for civil commitment. I am hoping Minnesota makes a big deal and SCOTUS grants certiorari. Then we can see how judges will rule conservative vs liberal and settle the debate between coastie and myself lol.

WOw this is great! When other countries start to realize that the USA is not the shining light of human rights any longer that is terrific!!! You know I may be wrong but that clause of the treaty they are talking about is the one passage that the USA refused to sign ... ?

Now they need to realize that no matter what the Supreme Court say the registry is in itself a civil commitment some headway might be made!

I do have concern that the USA may turn down applications for transfers back to the UK in a tit- for- tat as we say over here and although very different cases , another mother and myself both have sons who having been denied repatriation are waiting to apply again which can only happen every two years.
This costs us $5000 for attorney fees which is hard enough to find, but the disappointment outweighs the money as am sure you will appreciate especially those living thousands of miles away from your loved ones.
I understand up until recently the transfer treaty weighed in favour to the USA does anyone have any more knowledge on this fact?
