Thank You so much for letting us know about this important documentary that is so important to get out so people are aware of what terrible injustice and punishment is taking place. The laws around internet and sexting have to change it is ruining too many peoples lives and is not fair. I just donated and hope everyone on this site will do so.

Appreciate these two ladies are welling to put into their time and effort to make this film happen. They already had some talks on radio showes. It will help raise the awareness of CP and hope help reform the RSO laws and treatment for CP or/and porn addiction. Hope they can raise enough money to make the film out by 2016.

Being the mother of a son who accidentally downloaded cp. . i was hoping to see more of how innocents accidentally dL the stuff, but it just makes it look like young men start watching porn and then it takes over their lives and now they're watching kids. The trailer, really did not support or help my son's kind of case.

I won't support it, sorry. and I usually would. It just makes it look like people are hooked to cp. and that's not the case as in many who did it by accident.

I think it's a good film tho and think others in that situation should support it.

Do you think the majority of the people looking at CP accidentally download it one time and are caught? I think this video is trying to speak to ths majority which is not your son.

I don't know what is the majority. I've met a lot of people since this happened to my son, who did. So the numbers there seem pretty big.
Do we have statistics on this? What if the majority DID download by accident ? or someone sending them a nude text or email? All these I could call accidental, because they weren't looking for this kind of thing.

In my world, getting cp on your computer or phone when you didn't want it? Huge.

IF the majority did accidentally download CP I would come on herd and eat crow and humble pie. However, I will bet whatever sum of money you want that is not the case. It is human nature to want to believe the best about our loved ones.

I have not watched the trailer - and if Nakos assessment is valid I probably do not want to - do you mean that it says that young mean (or older) that become addicted to pron start watching little kids? Like to molest them? even the sentencing board says that is not a true statistic

It doesn't say that people who are addicted to porn go on to molest Advocate. There is actually one thing on the trailer I think you would agree with, the kid said, "You click one link and you never know what you are going to get."

The trailer is showing legal porn can be a gateway to CP, and that CP can get you a crazy amount of time in prison. One mom said that you can rape and murder a kid and get less of a sentence, which is not true, at least not the murder part.

This video is fighting the crazy prison sentences that people who view CP accidentally or not are receiving. I cannot understand why we as a community would not support it.

My whole point with even bringing that up Nak was this not supporting the video because it doesn't specifically deal with the crime your son is convicted of or the reason why he was convicted is a slippery slope. Any kind of video that is trying to make the life of any RSO better will most likely benefit all. But to hold on to the notion that the majority of CP is accidental because you have anecdotal evidence that it is, and because of that notion you don't want to support a video that is trying to do good for ALL convicted of CP crimes, I just don't understand that.

At the same time do whatever you want with your money. Far be it from me to tell you how to spend it. I just wish you wouldn't post why you aren't going to support something and give others a reason not to support this.

Well all that aside - I guess I should watch the trailer. It is not about accidental, planted, or a porn addiction - it is about making the punishment fit the crime (which by the way was a misdemeanor not all that long ago). my son always took responsibility for what he did but his addiction did not lead to anything else or "harder porn" or any of that - he looked for porn of his peers and that was CP. However, that being said Porn addiction and escalation (to harder porn not contact crimes) is a valid addiction like any other - but it is one of the few illnesses in the World that is treated as a crime instead of an illness

Statistics - Unfortunately there aren't any good sources for statistics on CP downloading. The only thing we have is literally what law enforcement chooses to publish. This kind of source will never include whether or not the downloading was accidental, placed by a virus or intentionally downloaded by a teenager looking for images of his or her peers all of which are things we know happen. All the data will say is these people were guilty of downloading CP.

What I can say is an independent effort to collect the data will more than likely paint a different picture than what is commonly believed. Case in point, everybody "knew" the people arrested in sex stings were perverted old men until independent data was put together.

I would do it but I barely have enough time to maintain the database that led to that story let alone tackle another one from scratch. The moral of the story is I think everyone would be surprised by what all CP arrest data might actually show

I'm not going to shut up just because you don't agree with me. We all have our own opinions and experiences.

From watching the trailer, it seemed to me, that everyone who is a RSO for downloaded cp wanted to and became addicted. This is not the truth, but to most of the other world they'll gladly accept it.

I don't know why the idea of most people accused of cp didn't download by accident. It's a possibility.

It's logically possible, but also not likely. It's the same leap in logic society uses when they say sex offenders reoffend more than the data suggests. The argument goes: because of the secretive nature of sex crimes there is so much more recidivism than we can possibly know. This ignores the fact that being on the registry and watched by your PO and police makes it so much easier to commit more crimes.

Wanting to believe the best in people isn't a crime, but I have some bridges I want you to buy, they are beautiful!

I know I will get slammed by this but ... CP aside there are very very few men in the World that would not "want to" look at porn. Some women like it also but it is a fact that men look at sex differently than women do. Looking at legal porn is not a sex crime - although in today's World I think I would stay as far away from it as I could!
