Truth is, it wasn't until the whole priest molests boy thing that society even began to start contemplating that males can be victims too - that sex crimes are not exclusive to the female gender. Problem is, courts have yet to catch up because they commonly impose far lesser sentences on females than they do with males. And if females think reporting a sex crime to a male police officer is embarrassing or degrading, try being a male because it is even worse due to the male attitudes towards male victims
I believe that if a female commits a sex crime she should be punished absolutely no different than a male would be for the same crime. Maybe if females were we would start seeing some positive changes in sex laws because its' always another story when the shoe is on the other foot. Suddenly these women groups that pushed for sex crime laws would realize the monster they created by doing so.
As far as the comment related to the black men. I have had described to me that they are considered an endangered species. A couple of reasons - the first is predominately in the poor sections the black man (even though they consider the other black man as his brother) will put the other down to make himself look better. It was described to me as the crab in the barrel attitude, climbing over the other to get out. The second reason is that most every black man killed is done by another black man.
In summary, I believe the justice system is warped by two things 1. what has been taught to others as children (no compassion, boys can do things girls can't, etc.) and 2. the politicians that will do whatever (mandatory minimums) to continue their political careers.
They also didn't seem to consider how loosely the law could be applied and used to persecute and falsely accuse someone that another feels needs to be 'punished' in some way. It is just too easy now.
I agree, if all things were applied equally there would be more justice in the world than there is now. Although I am not sure if that is possible due to human nature and the opportunistic nature of humans.
The attitude is that if a older woman finds a younger male attractive the male is suppose to feel special, to feel appreciated, and to want to have sex with her - if he does not feel such, then obviously he is gay. It is a mentality that presupposes if male cannot be sexually assaulted by a female because they are supposed to want to have sex with them.
Now, judges do have the authority to go against the recommendations of a prosecutor, in sentencing and they should if it is a female defendant and the recommendation is not what the prosecutor would want and advocate for the same exact crime committed by a male. But like society, our judicial system also has double standards in the application of law and it is not solely confined to sex crimes.
Granted years ago, female victims were treated very bad in our judicial system, but we have a tendency in this country to go from one extreme to another the overwhelmingly vast majority of times in the application of laws.
It is contradicting for women to demand one thing but not want it applied to themselves equally and thus, suggests that sex crime laws are not necessarily meant to target sex crimes themselves but rather they are meant to target men instead and that is discrimination based on sex in the application of the law.
