Double Standard

This really pisses me off. Where I live the police just busted a 28 female teacher in her car having sex with her 14 year old student. They refuse to release her name to the public and she has not be arrested as of yet. They say they are still investigating. Also, she is suspended from the school, however she has not been fired. If this were a male teacher his face would be plastered all over the media with his name in bold letters. He would have been hauled off to jail with no questions asked. This double standard in our society really make me see red!

And if she is convicted she will serve less time than a man would for the same crime.

She hasn't even been fired?? Um....I think that would've been the first thing to happen if it were a male teacher. Maybe there's more to it then they've let the public know.

As far as her being fired....i had worked at a community college for 18yrs....
And..being a teacher is classified as a public servant...so no matter what the charges are against her or whether she is in jail or not..makes no difference. Her dismissal has to go thru channels..meaning a board hearing and a vote.
It seems odd..but that is the process. Sometimes the decision is held up pending the investigation.
If the charges are true...she undoubtedly will not teach ever again.
But the point of not disclosing her name is strange.

In the county/city I live in only the men on the registry are posted on the wall at the police station. The women are often allowed to live with other people's children and go to the schools etc. I have found that the laws are strictly enforced for the men on the registry but not for the women.There is most definitely a double standard.
