Do we need to worry if the registry is not updated

My son registered a move, last month, which is still not updated on the Arizona registry. Do we need to worry about it if we have the paperwork to prove that he has registered the move? Their site clearly states that the registry is updated every night at 10:00 pm, but my son is still listed as "unverified". A sheriff did come by to verify that move just about a week after the move. I have been giving them the "benefit of the doubt", since they have been decent with my son, and just assume that they have been too busy to update the site or that my son has to do a yearly registration update next month. Am I just being a mom, and worrying, or should I be worried?

I would have him call the sheriff deputy who handles the registration and tell them he noticed it was not updated and he has the paperwork from when he registered and ask where to go from there.

We are kind of afraid to "ruffle their feathers" though since everything has gone smoothly so far. :)

Another reason why the registry is a joke. The damn thing isn't even updated.

I wouldn't worry about ruffling feathers. It's better to give the sheriff a call and make sure they received the paperwork than have your son jailed for failing to register. If things have gone smoothly thus far with your dealings with them, they should be grateful for your taking the initiative.

My sons conviction was in Michigan and on their registry they have his date of initial registration as 6/22/2004 and his date of conviction as 10/26/2005. Law enforcement here in our state of residence now refuses to correct his date of conviction until it is corrected in the original state, though they said they find it "a bit odd" since it is his first and only sex offense. I have his case summary from Michigan and it clearly states his conviction was in 2004, I contacted the registry info office there and told them the information and they said they would correct it "if" it was wrong. (sarcasm) are sex offenders, especially romeo and juliet cases, so dangerous now that they have to register them more than a year before they even commit a sexual crime?(sarcasm)

For my son it could make a big difference in his ability to be removed from the registry, because it makes it appear that he was more than 4 years older than his "victim". At the time of their relationship, he was 17 and she "said" she was 16. She was actually 14 and they didn't arrest my son until he was 18.

Never take the plea bargains, if you can avoid them, they are not worth it. The attorney is supposed to work for you, NOT the state. I learned that lesson from people here, and from my own experiences with my son. :) Good luck to you. BTW, Arizona has been decent with my son. Not many jobs to be had, but there is state aid, and you can survive here, which is all that we can do or hope for. :)

Yes the registry is a joke! But then again, we all know the difference between a person that should be on it and those who shouldn't. I'm not so sure those in high places do. :)
