Dear Women Against Registry Supporters
As all of you know, W.A.R. conducted a peaceful demonstration at the Washington, D.C. Supreme Court building this past Tuesday in support of Dennis Sobin's 1st Amendment right to free speech which the Washington, D.C. ACLU filed an amicus brief in support of.
W.A.R. was there with our banners and brochures during the lunch hour to offer information to the public as to the collateral damage experienced by our families. Some folks were in disbelief when they heard what we had to say.
We had lunch in the court cafeteria prior to the hearing. At 2:00 PM we went to the hallway outside and met the ACLU attorney there to represent Mr. Sobin. We then went into the court room and the hearing began with the judge discussing what had taken place in a prior hearing. The judge asked questions of each attorney and Mr. Sobin was allowed to make a brief statement. The judge then offered his opinion that he read and stated it would be issued in the next several days. The ruling was that Ms. Gray had no grounds for her suit.
As we left the hearing room a reporter from the Washington Post was in the hallway and sought an interview. We were happy to accommodate and share the things our families endure.
Women Against Registry then video taped an interview with Dennis Sobin at a nearby cafe as the court build was off-limits to cameras. As a thank you to our supporters and contributors we have just put the video up on our Innocent Victims You Tube Channel and invite you to view it.
Again, thank you for supporting W.A.R. in this initiative.

WAR Comes to DC
(WASHINGTON, DC, January 28, 2014) — The leaders of WAR and its members staged a protest rally today on the steps of the DC Superior Court in support of Dennis Sobin, a registered sex offender in DC who posted online pictures of the government employees who do the same to him.
In a total victory for WAR, Dennis Sobin, and free speech, Judge Todd E. Edelman ruled that distributing and posting online pictures of court employees by registered sex offenders forced to interact with them is a form of political speech protected under the Constitution.
“The judge’s opinion will be used as ammunition around the country,” said Sobin. “I’m very happy the judge understood and abided by the U.S. Constitution that gives citizens the right to protest a policy that is abusive and un-American,” he said.
“There is no evidence that these public registries do anything to protect children,” said Vicki Henry, president of WAR. “Yet millions of innocent family members of registrants must suffer the real consequences of punitive and humiliating registration requirements.”
The suit was brought by Stephanie Gray, an employee of CSOSA (Court Services and Offender Supervision Agency), the independent federal agency that maintains the sex offender registry in the District, who is one of the people featured on Mr. Sobin’s website (www.idiotsregistry.info).
“I feel as sorry for Stephanie Gray as I do for anyone who suffers unfair and degrading information plastered about them all over the Internet,” said Henry. “This case exposes the lie that public registration is somehow not punishment, but is only a small illustration of how devastating these consequences can be for returning citizens.”
“At least Ms. Gray can still get a job,” Henry said.
Women Against Registry is the voice of the millions of innocent women and children being wrongly and unfairly punished because they have a family member who has been convicted of a sexual offense.

Forever branding a person is wrong and sex offenders are the current witch hunt/nazi victims in the United States of America....a country that prides itself on its justice system. Equal justice - innocent until proven guilty- does not apply for any type of sex offense. Burglers, robbers, drug offenders, even people who kill others can get on with their lives once the sentence is satisfied, but not sex offenders.
Thank you
