I don't know but I wish I did! It comes up alot during my visits w/ my LO as he had a computer based career before this all happened. From what little I have been able to find out it costs 150. for the program and 50. a month to have it read/monitored. An employer would have to agree to it as well. Hope someone w/ experience will tell us more!

PS it seems to be so new I can't get a bead on it. Might be hard for someone who doesn't have a vested interest in it to get much info?

Although since my hubby has switched, I am not even sure the new PO has access to the data for him as all the userid information was in the other PO's name as I wasn't going to give him my email address and password to use it. I had to effectively transfer the whole thing into that POs information. It doesn't bog down the computer all that much and runs nicely in the background.

There is software that tracks everything on the computer. My hubby was suppose to have it for pre-trial release, but never got it. It costs somewhere around $40/month, but it does not work with Linux based operating systems from what I have heard.

I also have monitoring software for probation. It used to cost only $8.00 a month but they switched to a different program and now its $30.00 a month. Its called www.paycomputermonitoring.com and it claims to be the best monitoring software in the country. Its supposed to be undetectable so users can't make modifications to the software, but the program uses the exact same software that "monitoring viruses" use, which makes me skeptical. There is a process called rnappp7.exe the monitoring software uses and its the exact same process that a virus would use to hijack your computer, just google it. It slows down my computer a ton. But if they want to install this on your work computer then I think that's crossing the line regarding the company you work for. I use many different computers for my current job and for me to tell the company I work for "oh yeah, you have to install this software so this computer can be monitored" is ridiculous. But if this is your own small business without a proxy server/security server then that's a different story. I wish your son the best of luck... we have a lot in common actually, except I only did a few weekends in county and I think your son did a few years in fed prison, but that's for a different thread.

So... Do we approach the PO about this? Or do I just purchase this myself? I need my son to be able to use the shop computer but his PO smiles a lot and 'acts' like a nice guy but he's not helpful at all. How do we get started with this? I'll check into both of those, thanks.

Well I had to go through probation to get the process started. Probation gave me a case number which I had to enter in the monitoring website in order for me to install the software, I also had to have my PO's email address and enter that in. It was a simple process and it took maybe an hour.

They used to use a key logger program. I didn't use a computer for 3 years because of it. It logs every key stroke.
