My experiences with attorneys has been so negative, that it makes me distrust them all.
Has anyone out there had an similar experience to share in which they did not hire an attorney?
Could our son fight this on his own?
Within the past year, there have been 2 stories where CPS failed in their roles. First, they took a child from their parents because the patents wanted a second opinion before doing surgery. Took child from parents at second hospital.
Then, a case where CPS didn't take a child from an abusive family (multiple reports of abuse over several months), and the child died. CPS is afraid of another child slipping through the cracks, that they error on the side of removing children, which is why I strongly urge a lawyer for the meeting with CPS. Easier to prevent grandchild from being taken, then fight to get them back.
Consult an attorney.
So far she has asked that our daughter-in-law set up an appointment with the workers supervisor and report that she was in an argument, she was angry and called the sheriff, but that at no time was a child ever in danger, and that the worker had no reason to say that the reports were substantiated, when they were not.
She said that while most people are afraid to contact a supervisor, she said it often is the best thing to do, that some case workers are not the final say, and in fact, are doing their jobs improperly.
