This is ridiculous. The students are right, it is not noticeable unless you draw a circle around the guy and get a magnifying glass .

I agree. I certainly wouldn't have noticed. Hopefully all the other students will elect not to have him prosecuted for it.

I wouldn't have noticed anything! It is utterly insane it really is. In a few decades when this era is in the school history curriculum everyone will see how ridiculous everyone was being!

The sad thing is, if you look at the photo, none of his teammates noticed either so it is not like this guy was trying to "expose" himself in the context of a sexual nature, but as a stupid teenage prank that, unfortunately, will cost him for the rest of his life even if he is not convicted because it will still be on the Internet that anyone can pull up.

A few random thoughts:

-Did the school administration have to contact police - immediately(!) - after noticing the photo, or could (should) they have recalled the yearbook and corrected the problem without involving authorities? Knowing the potential consequences, I would hope school administrators would explore other avenues to redress such matters before calling the police.

-At least they didn't confiscate his cell phone.

-Just asking, but is it really indecent exposure if no one notices at the time?

-It must be a blow to the kid's ego that it took so long for anyone to notice.

-They're making him wear an electronic monitoring device? Really?!?

-We are living in some strange hyper-farcical land, when people (kids) can be labeled sex offenders (for life!) for silly things like this.

Kids make mistakes. Kids grow up unless they are arrested, thrown in jail and 'further traumatized" It's stupid (and in this case it's the adults who are being stupid) I don't mean to embarrass the kid more but the school is making a 'mountain' out of the kids little mole hill. This is the sort of stuff people used to to laugh and reminisce about at their 30th class reunion. JanetM

I just so happened to be on the Dr Drew show about this story tonight. (It was last minute so I couldn't advertise it much.) What tripped me out is they actually had this idiot on there applauding this. The show stated this guy was a judge at that! The problem with our society is we let folks like this judge even take these stupid cases.

This was a "Prank" folks (a playful or mildly mischievous act) not a crime...The problem seems to be the humor-less (PRUDISH) adults (the school personnel,(who'd rather have a kid arrested than admit they were pranked) the police (who didn't just take the kid home and tell the parents they were going t have been adult about this and known better than to handle the situation (and the kid) this way.... Can you imagine...these year books are suddenly real souvenirs that will be saved forever by his classmates but the kid is pilloried and prosecuted?

They were dropped, but there should have never been any charges at all. American people have to start getting with the times and stop being so prude. Heck, even adults throw pranks. There is an event here in Southern California called "mooning the train". Look it up as many new stations mention it when it happens, and it is considered a fun event. What if there were kids on the train watching all this? Nobody seems to care as it is considered tradition. How hypocritical is that? Also the flashing of breasts for beads in New Orleans is totally acceptable.
