Hello
I am new here. But, I just wanted to say that it has been Bitter Sweet. my son was 18 when went to prison, never been in trouble. Just got involved with an underage girl that lied about her age. 2010 seeing him graduate that year then 2 months later he is in a orange jump suit in jail. Broke my heart like never before. Cried out to God..to please protect my son..
Now 2014, he was released. So happy to have him home again 23yrs. old. Great to see him, hold him and spend time and holidays with him. He doesn't live with me which breaks my heart. He is a low risk but has restrictions like i never knew, So limited to everything. He is currently leaving with my parents which I am thankful for that. It has been bitter sweet. It breaks my heart that he has to go through this, and I wish I can take this all away. Like when he was little, I was able to fix everything, but I can't this time.
I try my best to stay positive for him and for me. He has his ups and downs, but he has goals and really wants to succeed in life. I pray everyday and I feel for those that are going through the same thing. I am happy to know that I can express myself here where we all understand one another.
Bitter Sweet it is.. but thankful he is home and thankful he is safe. God willing things will fall into place.

If your son is able to, have him see if they have a meeting near him. They have them in LA, San Diego, Fresno, Bay Area (can't remember the city), and now Sacramento. The president- Janice travels to one city per month to hold these meetings.
If he can't due to restrictions, have someone look up http://californiarsol.org and share with him some of the progress they have made, and what actions they are taking.

I just take it all day by day. Praying he will stay strong and positive
I know people don't always get lucky right of the bat, the boyfriend got screwed over so many times, and still does, but I always make sure to tell him that things are not going to stay this way, everything gets better in time. I wish he and his mother were part of this group to help give their perspective and support, I wish your son all the luck in the world and hope he can move on and make himself a good future :)
