On My Freaking God.... I can't believe what I read in this article about what prison officials have been doing to female prisoners . . . and the article was published last month. My God have we not stepped out of the mid-evil days.

Separate from that, those civilly committed by a New York administrative policy only received a whopping one dollar for having their civil rights violated by being deprived their substantive due process and liberty interests in being incarcerated in a civil commitment facility. With jury awards like this, where is the freaking incentive for government officials to actually obey the law

Yep, don't care about inmate's rights..just like the sterilization of women here in CA. The Govt will
Do what it wants to do, and until society sees different, nothing will change. This case, certainly doesn't show that the public cared about theses people's rights.

To the public there just prisoners and they don't count in there eyes until they are effected by the system...its asad world we live in.

correction to socity and the goverment they are nothing but pieces of meat they can do what ever they want to and as long as the prisons are full so are the pockets of the politics plain and simple

I have a close friend whom was forced to be a states witness in a high profile case where a lady murdered her husband and all they ever found was his torso. Forced or not, she was a snitch, and I would first like to say that there is NO HONOR IN THAT. Anyways...while she was cell mates with this lady whom she had to testify against the lead detective in the case regularly came out to Perryville prison and took her to a local motel and they had sex. She slept with atleast one gaurd at the prison as well. The thing is, it wasnt forcibile rape, but when your in that position and someone with that authority/ promise of priviledges comes along, I guess its hard to pass up.
