I've already dismissed it. I can't risk painting a target on my family's back. Hooray, the system works! :<

I wish I could become a voice and/or lobbyist, also, without painting a target on my back. But, here in NY ... we might stand a better chance (how much better, I'm not sure of)

If nobody is willing to stand up for this cause, how does anyone expect things to change? It is what I struggle with everyday here in WI... People so want change, but are unwilling to do anything to help themselves... it is beyond frustrating.

I agree with wisconsin, if we all just sit back being afraid, then nothing will change. I want to protect my family, but I can't just let thousands of people have their lives ruined because I was too scared. You can do small things that will help. Thanks to the internet, there is much you can do anonymously, but of course the biggest change always comes from those who are brave enough to step forward and take the risk. Personally, I'm going to go to school to become a paralegal so I can learn more about the system so as to better know how to change it. I get involved with the petitions online, though I know they do little. I'm trying to get involved with my state's RSOL, but have yet to hear back from the man who runs it.

The last 34 years, many of my friends have quit drugs, drinking, or stealing, they tell every body about how God through Jesus has changed their life's. He can do the same for you no matter what you have done. They go around talking to people daily about what they have done. We see drunk drivers doing the same thing, even those that have killed people due to being drunk and who have had more then one D.U.I with in a year.



Society has been able to watch these peoples life's change over the years.
Sex offender like myself have hid and people have never seen or hear of any of us ever changing. I in the last two years meet 3 people I had gone to church with for the last 20 years. I never knew they and I had so much in common. No one in our church knew we were ex-sex offenders living our life's like those we worked with, prayed with, camped with and even played golf with ...ect. knew our past. We were part of the group until this new registry came out and we where exposed. We are not part of this group any more, its like God can not change a sex offender.



It is time for the public to know the facts surrounding this issue. Ex sex offenders do not reoffending again after they are caught, like the media has lead us to believe. The recidivism rates is the 2nd lowest of all crimes by 95%, society has been lied too.



The media influence has been telling us the recidivism rate is 95%, I thought this to be true myself, I never met another ex sex offender. Yet I watch TV shows like C.S.I, L.A. Law, Fox New, CNN and all the other programs, which falsely show this to be true!



I thought all sex offenders did recommit another sex crime with in the first 3-5 years. I always assumed the information provided through media was accurate, yet it is false. It seems the media loves to use fear to promote hidden agendas, that serves as propaganda for ulterior motives and personal gain.I only had the media to compare my life with over the last 33 years. The media has always told me, you and society that sex offender have no remorse, this is why they continue committing these crimes. The only problem with what they were saying, was I did have remorse and regret over all these years, Remorse and regret was what help me see I needed to change my life.



Over the years, I began seeing woman like a sister, daughter, granddaughter, grandmother or even like my mother. I would never want for anyone to ever disrespect my family, or any one, as I had done so many years ago. So I thought I was different, the truth is, I am not defferent. Almost half the registry is made up of people who have been Law abiding citizens for over the last 10, 20, 30, 65 years. Us being quit has been our worst enemy !



For over 33 years I never told any one about my sex crime because of the fear it had over people. Due to media and false information, which is fed to the public at large. I was led to believe ex-sex offenders did not change BUT REPEAT THEIR CRIMES. I found this is not true, if it were, the public would not need a registry. All the offender would be in prison within a short time of being released. Prison would be so over populated with offenders that no one would have to worry about their safety. The way the story goes sex offenders rule the prison population. NOT!!!

I want to know, is it the lobbyist who write or help write these new bills for the public to vote on? If not who's door should I start knocking on? I want to start a pention and point out Some of the registrants on the Megan’s Web Site have over 65 years living as Law-abiding citizens who have been placed on this Site as Dangerous who are not. I do not think this is what the public was expecting, yet this is what is happening today
The law should not of ever been changed based on the number of registants from 1994. The registy is for those that are dangerous not made to be.
