We don't live in Arizona, but he is out of Arizona

I am in AZ. Please get in contact with me. My son is in Florence Meadows Unit and will thankfully be released in July 2016. As AZ is such a terrible state for felons, we are paying he will be able to be released to Oregon.

As some Arizonans know Lifetime Probation was enacted there in 1988. They are a very oppressive state when it comes to registrants and their families.

My fiance was sentenced to lifetime probation.

We are both thankful we don't live in Arizona, but our hopes of him being able to get off probation keep dwindling. He was told he could eventually petition to get off and he will register for 10 years after getting off of probation, but from what I keep seeing I don't ever see this happening.

The lifetime probation will follow him to whichever state he goes but some states do allow registrants to petition off in 5 years. He will probably have to check into an Interstate Compact Agreement to go to another state. If a person's petition to get off probation is denied make sure you are told exactly why. There are times when it has nothing to do with the person but more so the way it was filed etc.

We don't live in Arizona. He had the interstate compact in his plea deal. He moved to this state immediately upon his release. Right now he is still (going on almost 4 years now) in group therapy. We have a bit of a road ahead of us before he can petition to get off. This state will allow it, its just getting to that point.

Arizona is not a harsh state if you are off paper.
