After my sons sentencing they sent him to a place called Kirkland where he will be evaluated and sent to a prison. Now while talking to pd before he was sentenced everything was oh sure min. security somewhere where he will be safe and can get meds. Is there steps i should follow in contacting this place and requesting this or is it all out of my hands now.

I believe it may be out of your hands. My son was also sent to a place where he was evaluated before being placed. Fortuneatly they did put him in a miminum security place which is not too bad. Maybe someone else has more experience and can give you different information. I don't know if writing a letter to the judge would do any good.

It is prolly outta your hands my friend. Here in Ontario he would be evaluated and sent on to prison where his needs would be met ie if he needs to work or needs special program etc. As for the judge having a say, I also don't think that they would. Our judge made a "suggestion" to where DH should go but it is all left up to Corrections Canada (here newho) as to when and where an inmate is placed. I am praying that he is placed near to you and at a min security. My DH is in a max. security only b/c they have no where else to put him in our area that can do the type of intermittent sentence that he was given. This jail is what they call a 2 yrs and under jail. They also hold persons there b4 trial if they are not out on bail. There was a fellow in DH block last time that had been there for 3 yrs waiting trial! Craziness..... newho, keep your chin up and things will work out. Don't worry about where he "could go" until you know where he is going! ~HUGS~

Like Donna, my son was sent to a temporary evaluation center before moving on to a low security prison. Just be patient; my son was at the temporary place for 5 months because all the low security prisons were full up and had to wait for others to be released.
I'll keep you in my prayers.

Thanks everyone. I will keep praying. I know he has certain classes he has to complete to ever be abke to see his kids again but I so worry about him being safe.I just don't know what i would do without all of you to yalk to.

In the main group others have talked about Kirkland.....not too long ago.....might either ck out the old posts or ask on there.

But usually it is up to the inmate to request whatever they need and then you hope and pray they will follow thru and do what they should.
