'if' you should happen to talk to her? bring up that pain she says is so hurtful to see you suffer, that she spoke of and then ask her how she feels about the pain that she has added. GRRRRRR
Try to stay positive, i know it;s hard. Unfortunately the media has played a really big part of how people think of sex offenders. What people do not understand is they are not all the same and not all are monsters - there are a few. Until something like this hits in their own yard they do not understand.
I'm a self confessed introvert so have very few friends but all have been supportive but only of me. One friend was pleasant to my husband but now he's in prison she's very reluctant to be in the same place as him when he gets out. Many have expressed their "true opinion" now that we aren't currently together. I try to let them know he is in my life, he is my husband and we will get back on track but the eyes roll! My sister is like your friend and "doesn't like to see her baby sister in pain" but that's something they will have to live with. Abandoning friends in crisis isn't a true friendship.
Stay strong!
I know what you are going through, hurtandfearful. I have been down that road myself.
People who act that way are blind to the truth. It sometimes helps to make a little comedy out of things. I just imagine people like that letting their knees jerk so much that they kick themselves in the butt...right down the road and away from me!
Seriously, as others here have so beautifully said, this is a time to recognize your true friends. Those who stand by you despite the useless opinions of others. Cherish and focus on them.
You may not forget about the crazy reactions of others, but at least you will care less.
It hurts a lot. It feels like you are always kicked when you are down. I've learned there are a lot of people I thought I valued in my life and it turned out they had very little.
I would tell her exactly what you just said here - you came when you needed someone but now when I need someone you can't - back in the day that was called a Fair Weather Friend. Tell (I know it hurts) her that you made a vow when you got married and you are supportive of your husband and if she cannot come to the house then she is not truly your friend.
