That's a complete waste of tax dollars. I thought if a dog was labeled vicious it was put down? And as for the incidents where dogs "almost" bite someone unprovoked....that's bullshit. That means anyone can cry wolf. Instead of letting people keep these dogs that are labeled vicious, just remove them from home or put them down. so stupid.

All this registering = slippery slope IMO :-(

They also talk about websites for animal abuse. Soon, there will be a registry for everything... If you are a Dem, your on a registry, Tea Bagger, registry, Rep - registry, indep - registry. Got a speeding ticket, registry....only matter of time.

Yup Hitler said these kind of things are the best way to control people – make those that are not on any list feel safe. The problem I see here is that there are enough dog lovers everywhere that someone will stick up for them and the list will be non-existent. Remember after Sandy Hook they talked about a list for gun owners and the NRA was outraged. No one was there to stick up for sex offenders. They have not done enough prep work for these lists for people to accept them the way they did with sex offenses – by the time they came up with the registry people were SO thankful that the government was going to keep them safe from the boogey-man.

About a year or two ago in a local Florida county they passed an ordinance that same sex couples could be afforded the rights of a married couple (like in medical emergencies etc.) as long as they came done an registered with the county – most people I knew that could have benefited from this said NO WAY! Can you blame them?

So they put a chihuahua that almost bites someone in the same category as a pitbull that does bite somebody......yeah that sounds about right. Does a dog at least get a hearing before being labeled "Vicious"? I have two chihuahuas that bite each other unprovoked all the time! I used to think they were just playing, I had no idea it was a registrable offense. What about our Pomeranian? She's a certified mole hunter so now she has to be registered as vicious?

Aladdin = you are pointing out exactly why none of these lists work and never will - including the registry we all know about - who the heck decides who goes on it? I have always asked why is child sexual abuse so much worse than child emotional or physical abuse?? I just cannot get my head around it - and I am always appalled that the people of the World are ok with all of this. We are reverting back to the dark ages where people were controlled and motivated by irrational fears.

Ah, Aladin there is a misnomer..,pit bulls are wonderful animals. They only bite when they feel threatened m, or have been trained to bite.
My chihuahua however, is very protective. If you are walking across the street from our house, if she gets out, she will try to attack you. She's even gone after Dovermin and pitbulls and both look at her like 'ah, look at the little toy'.
Some small dogs are more aggressive than the bigger ones. We hear about the bigger ones because their bite can cause a lot of damage.

Lest we all forget, we are all registered... They call it Social Security... This is about putting people in to classes and groups so they can easily be 'handled'...

yes Wisconsin I agree we are all registered in some form or another but SS does not list ones status, address, the amount they receive etc. publicly and there is no real social ostracism connected to SS - yet.

It is almost public in many ways. We are forced to give it as an ID almost everywhere including just renting movies.

What I don't quite understand is why you think that there isn't any social ostracism. Most people that are on SSI or SSDI live in low income area, in low income housing, and get other low income assistance as well. When you talk to those folks they would say that there is social ostracism.

The ramifications of being registered at all with any government entity doesn't bode well for anyone regardless of the type of registry they are on. This has always been about those in power controlling those they have power over.

ThoughtAs - I wasn't picking on pitbulls so feel free to insert any breed you like. I've never had a pitbull but I've never met one that was anything other than a loving loyal animal. We have a couple in the neighborhood that drop by for a "visit" once in a while and it's one of the chihuahuas that chases after them.

Advocate: I've asked that same question about the abuse all the time...I suffered all three forms as a child, and I think the emotional and physical abuse caused just as much damage, if not more.

Thoughtas: The little ankle-biters can do quite a bit of damage, too. My daughter's leg was ripped into by her grandma's little dog...she ended up needing 40-50 stitches and now has a pretty wicked scar.

The other day I was at 'Wally World' and my dog(Named Dog) was in the back of my truck...As usual, when he saw me coming out of the store, he started barking and there happened to be this older lady walking by as I told him to shut up.."........Is he vicious"??
