So you are NOT paranoid.
But this is something to consider... A police officer can pull you over to check your registration and drivers license. Erratic driving even if only for a short distance can indicate something is 'up' in the car. Also don't forget that police are taught to be suspicious of everyone, that everyone is lying to them, and that they are in power all the time and have the kind of power that is easily abused. This is proven by the number of assaults that you see on the news that are perpetrated against women pulled over by male law enforcement. The whole, blow me and I won't give you a ticket. Good thing not one cop ever offered that to me... Although instead I got tickets, I should consider myself lucky I think... :)
I did have a similar experience when my husband and I were coming home from a friends house. Apparently my tail lights fuse had fried... I didn't know this at the time... So we were driving home... we pass a car, I see it whip a U turn in the middle of the highway, bubbles came on, my heart starts pounding cause I have my husband in the car and I hate to put him in any danger, I was driving... So I make my turn to get off the highway and pull over so we are out of the way of any traffic that could be coming.... He comes up to the car, I am in a panic, trying to look cool... and he asks me, did you know your tail lights aren't working AT ALL? The look on my face must have given him his answer before I ever said "NO!" and then I started to bitch cause I had JUST gotten my car back from the body shop that had repaired it from a deer collision... This was just one more thing that they screwed up on my car and I was thinking it was going to cost me money...
Thankfully the cop, didn't give me any tickets, only asked for my husband's name and then asked me where I was going, which was home... Told me that since I only had a shortish drive via backroads to home to turn on my flashers so that I could be seen from behind and header home... no ticket no warning, no nothing... He could have given me all sorts of hell but he didn't... He did describe what it was like to drive past me on the road and said it just wasn't safe... It was a cloudy night so quite dark out... he said one second he passed me and then I just vanished...
There are good cops out there, but they are so few and far between... Although, I should have more high MPH speeding tickets than I do have... so I have run in to a few, although none of them nice enough to just give me a warning. Unless they were a state trooper... Those Super Troopers are pretty cool... hehehe
CPR looks like a real work out..geeeesshhh that takes a lot of stamina .
