Just this past week I went for my Annual and during the updates was asked about a phone number I had reported changed almost 2 years ago because that cellphone got stolen from me. I told the cop I had reported it when I had reported my new number and he ran real fast to ask his Sargent if they needed violate me and I pleaded with them because I told them I only had gotten in trouble for 1 picture and since being out I was always very attentive about any and all changes usually within 1 to 2 days after the Change had taken place. Luckily they decided not to violate me but that is just how easy and how badly we are totally at the cops every whim. I dont mind cops trying to do their job but at least they should do it correctly and should always follow the exact same laws they hold us all to.

In the Military I always heard CYA (cover your bottom) how do we cover ours when its up to the officers to record the changes if you take time from your life to comply? Any ideas? anyone?

As my mother says "some people like to wear their stripes". My husband had similar issues.. His local station didn't have his updated address when he went to change some details. Thankfully they had the paperwork with the new address he had given them within the notice period but they forgot to change it on their system! Had they not had a paper copy he would have been sent back to prison to finish his sentence.

As you said you take time out of your life to ensure you follow the rules. There's the fear of them missing something out and falling into even more trouble! It's one worry we shouldn't have.

here they dont have a paper copy they have this WALL-E looking machine that they put all the info in and it is the only copy and this WALL-E machine is where the info hadn't been updated so I almost got messed up. I dont have any sentence to complete I pulled the entire time for my crime. So its one thing after another and I already stay depressed over it all as is without adding more fuel to the fire.

I do not know what state you are in, but in the Missouri county we live in, every time we do our 90 day check in and every time we make a change of status such as a phone number, we get a copy of the paperwork that is done by the sheriff's department.

It may be that you can help yourself and others in your situation, by getting the sheriff department where you go, to start giving copies of the paperwork generated when you check in with them and make any change

This always worried me. Whenever I have a change I type out in bold letters exactly what the change is, listing my state registry "Member ID Number", date, time, signature and deliver it directly to the sheriff office I report to. As I'm also still on probation I also go across the street and deliver a copy to my PO.

I also have registered on the registry website so I'm sent an email whenever any registrant has changes within 2 miles of my home.

i always ask them for a copy showing i was there and done it , i thank all it says is that i was there i dont know if it say why tho , my county has that computer thing to i forget what they call it , its running windows xp tho and the last time i went to do it it crashed and the cop had to restart it there all ways haveing problems with it reather its crashing or not saveing and we end up haveing to redo it or some thing at the end they say go wait in the car tell we know it was sent and well will tell you to ether come back in to redo it again or that i can go its a pos

ahh yes Ricky sounds like you on same system all I get is paper saying i was there it dont say why i was there the computer is called WALL-E because it kinda resembles the robot from Wall-E movie. they do your fingerprints, handprints palm prints every possible way of taking a print they dop it with this computer thingy. But yes only paper they give me is a receipt I was there not what I was there for

yes cop stan at computer there's like 4 or 5 flashers on ceiling that never fire and camera attached to computer stand right next to monitor and under the keyboard is the print scanner and when all said and done they say sign your name lol

and if your lucky they will say "get back up there we need to retake your pics" lol

I definitely pay the couple of bucks of every time I go in quarterly to obtain copies of what I gave them. It's piece of mind.

Something else I would like to suggest is something that I haven't organized myself yet but plan to is finding someone that you can implicitly trust to handle a .pdf copy of what you scan in your computer and email that to them every quarter, every week or whatever it is. That way if something happens and you cannot get to it all you have to do is contact them and have them work with them to get it straightened out.
