My hubs get out in 5 months and I am trying to do some things for him for when he returns. He will be on house arrest for 1 year and then 4 more years of probation. He is nervous about coming home cause he will be restricted to just home. I have come up with some things that I am hoping will help but not sure if my intentions will be met with dismay and might make things worst. Any feedback would be great. Here is what I have done and plan to do:
I have bought decorations at a party store to have theme nights. I have a Hawaiian night, casino night, Chinese night, fiesta night. I also want to get stuff for a french bistro night, sushi night and so on. Some of these themes will be just for us and others we will have friends over.
I am making him a workshop in one of our spare rooms where he can have his hobbies and work on projects like reupholstering furniture. I am also painting the entire house and putting up a huge wave mural in the living room. (he's a surfer).
I have purchased a motorcycle for him to fix up as a project bike for him to eventually ride but also give him something to work on. (he likes that stuff) My brother is a motorcycle mechanic so I got it cheap and my brother said he will help him with what ever he needs to make sure it is all done correctly and he can get me parts at cost.
I also have a ton of date nights planned like build a fort, make pizzas, movie night (I have been buying DVD's of all the movies he missed that I know he wants to see), breakfast in bed and so on.
Any feedback or even any suggestions on other things I can do would appreciated.

You don't just sit on your couch and wait for a year to be over.
There will be depression and frustration at the little things they are behind on. When my husband went in to prison smartphones were usually just your blackberrys and things... when he got out a couple of years later, there weren't hardly any flip phones anymore.
Another thing to keep in mind is that the first 90 days are going to blow, after that he'll be earning his freedom from the restrictions. Try not to ask for too much in the first 6 months, after that, pick your battles... You'll do great!
