His PO checks in with him once a month. He cannot travel far. But he has a life. He works for me and on our payroll. It all depends on your state.
That's the problem. Regardless of what you can or can't do, that shadow stays with you. I don't let it control my life! That is the key. Do not let them control any more than the law says.
During my supervised release, I worked, socialized and generally did what I wanted, within the restrictions. It only bothered me when I had to go in monthly and ask to travel outside my district. After my fines were paid, I even went to the Caribbean on vacation! With permission, of course.
It is more annoying than anything else after a time. Like I said. It can't be the main focus of your life.
Yes, I went to the Islands while on Supervision. I had to report to the Feds in St. Thomas once while I was there. Took 10 minutes. When I came back, I called my PO.
If there are any fines, vacations outside the District will not be approved until they are paid. Even if the vacation is paid by someone else.
I was hit before the prison terms and Supervision went into decades. That's why I only had 2 years in prison and 3 years SR. I also came off the registry before the AWA was passed in my state.
Guess the powers above figured I needed some luck somewhere.
What I can say about my time on supervision is that I was quite paranoid. It is easy to b paranoid. I am far improved in this regard. Groceries, shopping, you name it --- not a problem, even while on supervision. I own my own company, yet don't have a lot of clients because of my existing job.
I hope this helps...
