This case, however, reflects a conscious choice to do harm to others and profit from it. It should be illegal--everywhere. After all, it is clearly extortion. But that's because money is involved.
You can't really eradicate the desire and actions of those who want to harm others over the internet. This happens every day. NPR reviewed a book this week about public shaming on the internet.

I'll bet the book doesn't extend to the registry or revenge porn, but perhaps this will be this guy's next project. It is certainly in the same scope.
non-consensual should be against the law, period. but of course that doesn't cover anything the cops or courts do to you.....
and of course the slippery course of what 'was' consensual once can turn on you in a heartbeat when someone gets pissed off at you.....
