Revenge sucks no matter how it's done. The information age makes just another means to do so. It's wrong no matter what medias is used!

I saw this on the National news last night but I must admit I was a little confused - we had just had something posted on here a few days ago about a local revenge porn case where they had a big chart with the few states that laws against it? So is this a case of it being against federal law - or is it becasue he was making money off of the people or what? And technically since this was non-consensual porn (the sex was consensual but in some cases the film was not?) does that make it a sex offense? Are there even answers to these questions yet? I have said all along if not for the internet and computers the registry would not be half of what it is today - I know my sons name would not be on it!

Its really true, Advocate. The internet is addicting. Its well proven. Its also easy to "believe" that you have privacy on the internet because no one else is around when you are on it, but exact opposite is true. You can be tracked down to the very second you did something and it is fairly easy to prove it was you doing it. Addictions and casual errors become "heinous crimes".

This case, however, reflects a conscious choice to do harm to others and profit from it. It should be illegal--everywhere. After all, it is clearly extortion. But that's because money is involved.

You can't really eradicate the desire and actions of those who want to harm others over the internet. This happens every day. NPR reviewed a book this week about public shaming on the internet.

I'll bet the book doesn't extend to the registry or revenge porn, but perhaps this will be this guy's next project. It is certainly in the same scope.

consensual is consensual......

non-consensual should be against the law, period. but of course that doesn't cover anything the cops or courts do to you.....

and of course the slippery course of what 'was' consensual once can turn on you in a heartbeat when someone gets pissed off at you.....
