I was targeted by a psychopath at work. She wanted my job. She spread rumors and manipulated others into getting upset about things that were extremely petty or simply untrue. Then, she started attacking me verbally over the stupidest, most silly stuff you could ever imagine, but in her mind these things were proof that I was a bad person and was horrible at the job I had done for 12 years. Each time she attacked me, she would end with a personal attack on my character. Apparently, she thought this justified her behavior against me.
Well, I didn't realize that she had been talking bad about me for almost a year before the attacks began. Her behavior was so bizarre. I brought it to my superior, but he wasn't interested in the truth…just that everyone believed I was this horrible person. (Yes, it turned into a mobbing.) I was flabberghasted. I wondered how anyone could do this and have any self respect…then I knew what was going on. Self respect is irrelevant to a psychopath. They have no concern for who they manipulate or hurt to get what they want. They don't know how to really care for others.
(As an aside, later I met at least 6 other people that this woman had targeted and bullied.)
When I listened to Drum, I heard some of the same kinds of rationalizations and manipulations. He wanted to make you believe he cared about the families of his victims… BS! I listened to a little bit more, but it made me sick.
Sorry I can't comment further, but I would say that I really admire your courage for what you are doing. People really need to know.
I wish I had been interviewing him, because I wanted to cuss him out at the end. Tom kept his composure better than I would have, but in the end, we got more out of it because Tom was so composed. If I confronted Drum he would have likely backed off. I'll let him figure it all out later once the documentary is done.
