I can not figure out how they came to be charged with rape?? I read the article twice trying to make sense of that?? They were all consenting adults and he was obviously willing. I can understand an improper relationship and losing their jobs... but rape?
UNREAL once again! At this rate, we need to stop building schools and hospitals and build many more prisons to house every one who gets caught up in our punitive-happy justice system.

my son just called from prison and I told him about this case and he said yes, they have been told that if anyone has sex with anyone in a position of power behind bars then that person can be charged with rape because they (the inmates) are unable to give "consent". Crazy.

appparantly, once you are a prisoner....you lose all your rights including the "right" to consent. If this was a prison guard being charged, I could kind of understand it....but a nurse that had an ongoing relationship with the inmate? How do you make that case. I am real interested to see what happens with this case. We probley will never hear the outcome though.

Of course its a DA who wants to make a name for themselves i forgot who said it on here but someone said sex sells are we as a nation that afraid of sex? where you can charge a consenting adult with Rape?

This is not uncommon. There are female sex offenders on several state registries who were convicted of rape or sexual battery for having sex with men over whom these women had some sort of authority position, such as female prison guards. The sex was consensual but their positions made the sex legally a crime.
