I get people who look at me and judge me, saying I'm not a good mother because I should have known . They look at me saying I'm too weak to leave him.
He won't be released for several decades, so I haven't experienced life on the registry or parole. But your husband CAN contact the police. He just isn't allowed to be in contact with other parolees when he is on parole.
I don't get pointed at or stared at, then again I have been told that I am an intimidating looking person, even though it is all an act and I am just really bashful. So people leave us be it would seem.
Police contact is if your man committed another crime, if he was pulled over in a traffic stop, etc... If you are pulled over for a traffic stop and he is in the car, it is a grey area. If you are harassed, attacked, or offended against by anyone you have every right to call the police. It should not and probably will not affect your man's supervision, unless he is the offender that is did it to you.
The biggest thing to remember is that YOU are not on supervision, it may feel like it sometimes when you want to leave spur of the moment for a weekend away. If your man isn't home in most places you do not have to let a PO or law enforcement into your home without a warrant. If your man is there, he is obligated to let them in to look around.
Now remember if someone attacks you OR your man or you experience vigilante behavior. BOTH of you should call the cops, your man should inform the PO of the police contact and provide the report number if necessary. Even though it feels as if he has no rights, that means the DOC is still responsible for him and his safety, as he is not allowed to really defend himself. I hope this is making sense...
The pointing and staring will have to do greatly with where you live. I have found that the more metro the area the more nosy people are, the less 'common sense' they have when it comes to crime and what really goes on in the world, and I they have a tendency to be very much like sheep regurgitating what they see on the 6 o'clock news and hear from their gossip circles such as The View. heh.
