sickening!!! and it's not just the private prisons that make the money, but the state and federal prisons too.

all you have to do is look at the pricing in the commissary. state and fed also mark prices up wicked. and if something is sold in the commissary you can not send it. so they definitely have a captive clientele. "you want to write home"? then you buy 'our' pens, pencils, tablets and envelops. all marked up. some 100% or more. but yet the prisoners are lucky if they make $20 a month. so yeah they're not only gouging the prisoner they are gouging the family and friends. ~sigh~
