Hello,
My name is Mary, and my only child Jesse, is serving a 20 year sentence for a horrible, violent crime. He is only 23 years old, and he has been incarcerated for 5 years. He is eligible for parole in 2021, and if he is denied, he cannot apply for parole again for five years. That's the new Canadian law for violent, sex offenders.
I do my best to be his source of hope. But boy, oh boy....sometimes I can't even believe my own words. I struggle to talk to anyone about any of this....most people are horrified when they hear the details of his crime. Family and friends have pulled away. And what family and friends remain act like I do not have a son.
I'm grateful to found this forum. Only another person on this lonely, and painful journey can understand what is going on in my thoughts, and in my heart.

Welcome to this great and incredible group where no one judges. It is so hard to go through this, but it becomes a little bit more bearable with the understanding and help of this group. I am glad you found us.
