Hi everyone!
My name is Madison (Maddie). I am 29 years-old. On November 15th I am marrying the most amazing, caring, talented, and loving man in the world- who just also happens to be a registered sex offender.
In 2012 his sister accused him of inappropriately touching her on several occasions throughout their childhood. He admitted to one instance where they played doctor when she was 7 and he was 12. After the event happened he told his mother about it, and she dealt with the situation then and there. Beyond that, nothing else happened. To make a long story short, his sister dropped all charges, but the instance of "doctor". His sister has since been diagnosed with schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and multiple personality disorder. He spent 13 months in jail and is now in his second year of a 10 year probation sentence (6 if he has good behavior). Along with the probation he has to go through weekly group therapy sessions, biannual polygraph tests, and the whole long list of rules attached to being a registered sex offender (that I'm sure we're all familiar with).
We met before all of this happened, but didn't really have an attraction to each other until I met him again shortly after he was released from jail. Ever since we began dating I've been looking for a group of individuals that understand the pain and hardships that come with loving someone in this situation. Some days are better than others. I know that God wouldn't have given me this man if I wasn't strong enough to handle it.
I hope that this group will give me the love and support I need. It's hard trying to talk about my problems with others who don't live it every day, like we do. Thank you for letting me tell such a small bit of my story. I hope that I can be a help to some of you too.

Yes, only another person is our situation can ever understand how we feel. It's a lonely, misunderstood situation we're in....loving someone with the "sex offender" label....as if those words define a human being.
I find this forum so comforting, and supportive. A place to go, when there is no where to go.

I do want to let you know some things to help keep you safe. First off, this site is public; anyone can come here and view and read our posts. Please do not share personal information that you don't want public. We do get trolls here occasionally, and they have used information posted here to harass members.
