Hcj - many of us understand your frustrations, but it is difficult to give you specific information on how things will be structured when he is released. Many factors come into play and are based on the restrictions imposed by Arizona's SO registry requirements. Generally, restrictions include mandatory SO counseling, regular testing like polygraphs, residential restrictions, and rules about contact with children and other personal matters. I don't live in your state, but there might be someone here who is from Arizona who can tell you what to expect. You might want to do an online search of Arizona SO restrictions also. Another good support website is prisontalk.com where there are individual state forums which offer support to spouses and family members who have loved ones facing prison or just coming home. Hi hcj- I'm in AZ. Arizona is not AWA compliant so that's a good thing. They have 3 levels of sex offenders which are determined with a risk assessment. Level one is lowest, and are not published on the online registry, level 2-3 are published and subject to community notification. My husband plead to charges which the judge had discretion on whether to make him register or not. She decided not to but still placed him on SO probation terms. As long as his compliant, he won't have to register. So now, he is not living in our home currently as we have a 2 year old daughter. He has been out of the house for about a month and we are still awaiting the initial interview with a counselor. The PO says once he gets that interview, they can determine whether he can come home or if he needs to start treatment first. He cannot make contact with minors, and has to log any 'encounters' in a notebook. My husband's crime had no actual contact and no true victim- so yes, AZ is harsh In that sense. Our family is torn apart because of a chat conversation with no meeting ever discussed or planned. You will have to participate in chaperone sessions if you want him to live in the home and have contact with children, which I started on my own without any officials telling me, but my sessions are on hold because they have to reassign the place of treatment because the place I was going to was also the place that did his initial risk assessment before he was sentenced and they say that could pose a conflict of interest. It sounds like a nightmare, but the PO is actually nice and understanding and answers every question and concern whenever we have one. We live in Missouri, I am sure the laws are different, but as for the other things that can be expected:
