I would like to discuss this topic at some point so just letting you know that I will be making a lenghtly post here. I believe this is 'part' of the way forward. Protecting children is supposed to be top priority so why do the children of an RSO get treated as a second-rate citizen? To me it's legally sanctioned child abuse and a lifetime of victimization. Many cases escalate to levels of phyisical and psychological abuse that go beyond the impact felt by the victim of the original crime (if it was a contact offense). The maths? For every child that gets abused, one or more has to suffer and unlike the original crime this suffering can be daily abuse.

my thoughts exactly. so may people are getting hit with the CP charges in my area I can not believe it. People need to understand this is a no-contact offense and they are getting hit harder then someone who molested a child. I am not saying that someone who molested a child has not rights, but I am trying to get people to understand it is not the same thing and to go at law makers with the protect a child defense is what I can do know.

All I can say is we are currently fighting our case still, but have been told my husband will never be allowed to live with our children as long as he is on probation and they are under 18. Since our youngest is just 19 months old, this will be here childhood without her dad. He has already not been allowed to live at home due to the 'potential risk to children' label slapped on him. He was arrested for CP was evaluated within 3 weeks of being arrested and given a label of nonpredatory and a low level risk at being a pedophile. So WHY can't my kids see him? Because they say so!

My daughter hasn't been able to be with her dad since she was 13 months OLD!!!! She barely knows him!!

My children cry DAILY, are struggling in school, and fear for their dad.

i know what you mean MMCj a few months ago the kids where removed from my house because DCFS got invloved in a case against my sister for leaving her children here at my mom's house the first case worker we had was ok found nothing wrong sister did what she was told blah blah blah then they go to court judge gets ready to close the case but before he does this my dad opens his mouth which reopens the case and a new case worker this case worker was a total bitch and once she found out i was on the registery and threw a fit at why i was living in the house with these children mindyou my nephew was 3 when i was arrested i've raised him from the time he was a new born to now he is 9 years old i even baptized him back in july my sister also has a daughter who is 2 years old helped raise her also when my sister and her boyfriend would take off weeks on end i was forrced to move into a house with bad wiring holes in the walls infested with roaches bad plumbing and a guy who lived down stairs who was a drug addict and a drunk who had magazines such as barley legal and 18 scattered all over the place in the basement i had to pay 400 dollars got no contract and the landlord hardly showed up and when he did it was only for a few mintues at a time and would never keep his promises i am back home and the guy is avoiding me i am back home and the kids are in a foster home until my sister and her boyfriend find a place to live they also got a new case worker who is really nice only meet her once and she had no problems with me at all she took my neice and nephew to a family funreal had no problems at all but ya seems like us with CP charges get treated just as badly as those who actually did something to a child if not even worst

oh my god this is awful my 13 year old son has had his life destroyed i actually hadnt thought of this perspective he has become a recluse because of this my husband has never touched a child and never would before this he was with his friends all the time since tis nothing

These are the storys I need!!! What is happening to our children!!! There is no evidence anywhere that if you look at CP you will harm a child and as mmci said, it has been 6 months since her daughter has seen her father. This is crazy. What is wrong with our legal system. There is tons of reports on how kids act out when there are not 2 parents involved and our goverment thinks this is helping. I will not stand by with out a fight to stop this. Why is it my husband can see his kids and mmci can not. It does not make any sence. And I am tired of sticking my head in the sand and think it is going to change, it will only change if we speak up about it, and that is what I plan to do.

Some simple maths: Most contact offenses are committed by a known perpetrator. 30% by relatives. 60% by acquaintances and friends of the family. That only leaves 10% unknowns. Now according to the Department of Justice and based on their own statistics, only 5.3% of registered sex offenders will go on to commit further crimes within 3 years following their release. What does this tell us? Your children are 90% likely to be sexually abused by someone close to you and 10% by someone you don't. Where can you find these hidden predatory unknowns? 94.7% of them will NOT be on the Sex Offender Register and when you factor in the vast numbers who haven't yet been caught or committed a crime? Well they're still 90% likely to be lurking around your child right now and waiting to pounce) which means 99.99% wil NOT be on the Sex Offender Register. Conclusion? If you're looking at the Sex Offenders Register right now then you have taken your eyes off your children. The fear you have Mr and Mrs Average? It's all in your head, but if your fears do happen to become realized (I truly hope they don't) then it's 100% likely to happen, because where are your eyes? Is this 21st Century parenting?
