Our attorney (actually the second one we've had) is absolutely worthless in my opinion. He says he's going to do A, B, and C but never follows through. For example, at Christmas time he told us that the motions were almost ready to be filed, and he needed another amount of money to file them. Almost four months later he says they're still not ready.
Now he's telling us that if we file them, it might make the DA dig in his heels toward going forward to trial and hopes of a plea would diminish. I don't think we even want a plea, because my husband is innocent and is unwilling to say he did something he didn't.
We can't afford to hire another attorney and start all over. Is there anyone you can complain to if you feel your attorney is taking you for a ride? I actually think he is dishonest, and took our money at Christmas time because he needed it. I don't think he has any intention of filing motions, and they were never "almost ready".

Lets face it you have two attorneys working against you . The prosecution district attorney and your lawyer. Your lawyer does not want to do any work or upset the DA. Your attorney just wants every dime he can get out of you. Usually by now you are out of money and stuck with your bad attorney and little hope of getting another. If you complain to the State Bar Assn you will have both the district attorney and your lawyer openly working against you. Quality legal representation is a hard thing to come by wtih the old boy system being what is it today in the legal system.
