Sorry, Thought. I know how hard it is to wait to see the one you love. Those first few weeks were horrible. We both really suffered. One thing I've learned about prisons, especially jails, is that there are many people there who believe that the inmates purpose in being there is for punishment, including suffering. Family members are not exempt from that. Our loved ones suffer, we suffer, too.

There are good people, too, however, and you will meet them on your journey through this. Breath deeply though the tough spots and hold onto whatever positive experiences you get. That will keep you going, plus posting to all your friends here!

Hang in there. It will get better.

It is a hard thing to have a loved one incarcerated; especially when anniversaries, birthdays , and other holidays start being affected. I went through many missed days and all I can say is do what you're doing now. Keep writing, stay strong, and keep at the prison on the issue of visitation etc. This may not help now but this is temporary. He will be home again one day.

im sorry to hear this . i know it was very hard for me , it took them about ten days before they said i was able to visit my husband ,when he went to jail . , had to get on the list me and my son and his momma . would go visit him together , or be just me visiting him . . i cried cried cried and didnt want to eat even . my time was spent in fasting and prayer . i also lost over 40 lbs in 4months over all this .prayed for my hub to be safe and all . .my hub was on the segregation cell . and inmates would cause the guards to put them on lock down 24 hrs . which meant no phone calls id get around that time. my husband also was sick with some kind of cyst on his chest , i had to call them 100 times to tell the nurse my hub had sleep apnia and and that thing on his chest needs to get checked. finally they took him to a hospital and came out to be good report thank GOD. NO CANCER. anyways the letters i would write him one every day and mail them together in 2 days so he always had alot of writing he was able to read. plus the collect calls and the visits when we was able to meant a lot too .
anyways , it helped the time to go by faster . just keep writing him . we missed thanks giving , my birthday and christmas when he went in . and new years . so when he got out we celebrated a really fattening but healthy thanksgiving meal . opened gifts i bought him and just thanked GOD he was finally home. how long is your hub going to be in jail .? ill be praying for you both GOD bless .

Thank you Peek and fryeguy...it's hard when I receive his letters and he is soo depressed and wants to give up only for the sake of his family living a normal life. I keep reassuring him, that we want him home - that is all that matters to all of us. I'm trying to stay strong; somedays are better than others.

Hurting, he was sentenced for 30 yrs 8 mo... Which for him is a life sentence. We are appealing, but that takes time. I've heard that in good old CA, it can take upto 2 months to be approved for visits. And he has no access to phone calls while in intake for upto 6 months, sometimes more.
I pray daily that we win appeal and will be able to come home soon. Only time will tell....

I think they want them to become submissive. I think they have power over you, and they flaunt it. Everything is in their control. Whoever thought prison was a way to change someone who has made a mistake is evil and so wrong.
